Phone bluetooth connection issues - keeps disconnecting

My phone's Bluetooth keeps disconnecting from my car stereo and headphones. It connects fine initially but then drops after a few minutes. I've tried forgetting and re-pairing devices but the phone bluetooth connection issues continue. Anyone have a good smartphone troubleshooting guide for Bluetooth problems?
