Mind mapping software for complex project planning?

I work on complex projects with lots of interconnected pieces and I've heard mind mapping software can help with visualization and planning. But every mind mapping tool I've tried feels either too simplistic or overly complicated. What mind mapping software have you used successfully for actual project planning and execution? I need something that can handle large, complex maps without becoming unusable.

For complex project planning, I use XMind. It handles large mind maps without becoming sluggish, and the outlining mode is great for converting maps into actionable plans. I use it for everything from product development to content strategy. The export options let me share maps with team members who don't have the software.

I use MindMeister for team-based mind mapping. The real-time collaboration features are excellent for planning sessions with remote team members. We can convert branches into tasks and export to project management tools. The ability to add attachments and links to map nodes makes it useful for actual project execution, not just planning.

For technical project planning, I use Lucidchart. While it's primarily a diagramming tool, its mind mapping capabilities are robust enough for complex projects. What I like is that I can easily convert mind maps into flowcharts or UML diagrams as the project progresses. The integration with Google Drive and Confluence is also helpful.
