Marine fishing electronics - what's actually useful?
#1
Looking to upgrade my fishing setup with some marine fishing electronics. There are so many options - fishfinders, chartplotters with fishing features, underwater cameras. Which marine fishing electronics have actually helped you catch more fish? I'm trying to separate the marketing hype from the genuinely useful marine fishing electronics. Budget is moderate but I want to invest wisely.

Most useful marine fishing electronics: good fishfinder with CHIRP technology, chartplotter with detailed bottom contours, temperature gauge. Marine fishing electronics that actually help: side-scan for finding structure, down-scan for seeing fish directly below. Fancy marine fishing electronics like underwater cameras are fun but not essential. Focus on marine fishing electronics that help you understand the water column and bottom structure.

From a tech perspective, marine fishing electronics worth investing in: networked systems that share data between units, GPS with accurate positioning for marking spots, units with good sunlight visibility. Modern marine fishing electronics with touchscreens and mapping are great, but make sure they're marine-rated for durability. Also consider marine fishing electronics that integrate with your existing navigation system.
