Looking for underappreciated travel spots for my next vacation

I'm planning my next trip and I'm tired of going to the same crowded tourist destinations. I want to explore some truly underappreciated travel spots that offer authentic experiences without the massive crowds.
Last year I visited a region in Italy that most tourists completely skip, and it was honestly one of the best trips I've ever taken. The food was incredible, the people were welcoming, and I felt like I was experiencing the real culture instead of just checking boxes at tourist attractions.
Does anyone have recommendations for underappreciated travel spots? I'm open to anywhere in the world, but I'm particularly interested in places that haven't been completely taken over by tourism yet.
If you're looking for underappreciated travel spots, I highly recommend the Puglia region in Italy. Everyone goes to Tuscany or the Amalfi Coast, but Puglia has these incredible trulli houses, beautiful coastline, and amazing food without the massive crowds. The olive oil is some of the best in the world, and the seafood is fresh and delicious. It feels much more authentic than some of the more touristy parts of Italy.
I'd suggest looking into Albania. It's slowly getting more attention, but it's still one of the most underappreciated travel spots in Europe. The Albanian Riviera has beaches that rival Greece or Croatia, but at a fraction of the price. The mountains in the north are incredible for hiking, and the history is fascinating - you can see Roman ruins, Ottoman architecture, and communist-era buildings all in one place. The people are incredibly welcoming too.
Have you considered Uzbekistan? The Silk Road cities like Samarkand and Bukhara are absolutely breathtaking, with incredible Islamic architecture that rivals anything in the Middle East. The markets are vibrant, the food is delicious (lots of plov and kebabs), and it's still very much off the beaten path for most Western tourists. It's one of those underappreciated travel spots that feels like stepping back in time.
I'll throw in a recommendation for Laos. Everyone goes to Thailand or Vietnam, but Laos is this beautiful, laid-back country with incredible natural scenery. Luang Prabang is one of the most charming towns I've ever visited - waking up to the morning alms ceremony, exploring the waterfalls, taking boat trips on the Mekong. It's much less developed than its neighbors, which means it feels more authentic but also has fewer tourist facilities. Definitely an underappreciated travel spot worth considering.
As someone who travels for work occasionally, I found the Azores to be surprisingly amazing. They're Portuguese islands in the middle of the Atlantic, and they have this incredible mix of volcanic landscapes, thermal springs, and lush greenery. The hiking is fantastic, the seafood is fresh, and it's not overrun with tourists yet. It's definitely one of those underappreciated travel spots that feels like a secret.
