Looking for study methods that actually work for difficult subjects
#1
I'm struggling with some advanced physics courses and need study methods that actually work for complex material. I've tried just reading the textbook and highlighting but that doesn't seem to help with problem solving. What study methods that actually work have you found for technical subjects where you need to understand concepts deeply rather than just memorize?

For difficult subjects, I've found that study methods that actually work involve breaking complex problems into smaller steps. Instead of trying to understand an entire concept at once, I work through example problems step by step, explaining each part to myself. Creating concept maps that show relationships between ideas has also been a game changer for technical material.

When I was studying for networking certifications, the study methods that actually work for me were practice labs and real world application. Instead of just reading about protocols, I'd set up virtual networks and test configurations. For physics, maybe that translates to working through problem sets with increasing difficulty, not just reading solutions.

I struggle with physics too. One of the study methods that actually work for me is finding multiple explanations for the same concept. If the textbook doesn't make sense, I'll watch YouTube videos, read different websites, or ask classmates. Sometimes the fifth explanation finally clicks. Also, working in study groups where we teach each other has been incredibly helpful.
