Looking for mobile games with absolutely no in-app purchases - any recommendations?

I'm so tired of downloading games that seem fun only to find they're filled with microtransactions and paywalls. I'm specifically looking for no in-app purchase mobile games where you just pay once (or get it free) and that's it. No energy systems, no loot boxes, no ads unless they're optional.

I've found a few like Monument Valley and Stardew Valley, but I'd love to hear what other people have discovered. What are your favorite mobile games with good gameplay that don't constantly try to get you to spend more money?

Oh man, I feel you on this. I've been building a collection of no in-app purchase mobile games for years. Some of my favorites:

1. Dead Cells - it's a premium game but absolutely worth it. No microtransactions, just pure gameplay.
2. Slay the Spire - same deal, pay once and you get hundreds of hours of content.
3. Into the Breach - fantastic strategy game with no extra purchases.
4. Mini Metro - simple but addictive puzzle game.

The key is looking for ports of PC/console games. They're usually complete experiences without the mobile game monetization nonsense.

As a student on a budget, I've been hunting for these too. Some good free ones with no in-app purchases:

1. Data Wing - completely free, no ads even. Amazing little racing game with a great story.
2. Alto's Odyssey - has a one-time unlock but then no purchases.
3. Polytopia - the base game is free with a few civilizations, you can buy more but it's not necessary.
4. Reigns - the first game is free with optional purchases for later games in the series.

Also check out games by developers like Nitrome - they often have free games with minimal ads.

I review a lot of mobile games for my channel, and the no in-app purchase category is getting harder to find but still exists. Some recent finds:

- Dungeon of the Endless - amazing roguelike tower defense hybrid, premium price but worth every penny
- Kingdom Two Crowns - beautiful pixel art strategy game, one purchase gets you everything
- Baba Is You - mind-bending puzzle game that will make you question reality

The trick is to avoid anything labeled free" in the app store unless you do serious research first. Most free games are designed around monetization, not gameplay.

Don't forget about emulation if you're on Android! You can play thousands of classic games from older consoles that were designed as complete experiences. Games from the SNES, PS1, Game Boy Advance era were all pay-once-and-play.

For modern stuff, I'd add:
- Stardew Valley (you mentioned it but worth repeating)
- Terraria - massive game for the price
- Papers, Please - unique and thought-provoking
- This War of Mine - heavy but excellent

These are all premium games but they give you way more value than any free-to-play game with microtransactions.

I'll throw in a few more that haven't been mentioned:

1. The Room series - puzzle games with amazing atmosphere, each is a separate purchase
2. Monument Valley 1 & 2 - you mentioned the first, but the second is just as good
3. Device 6 - unique text-based adventure
4. 80 Days - fantastic interactive fiction

Also, keep an eye on Apple Arcade if you're on iOS. It's a subscription, but all the games there have no in-app purchases or ads. Some really quality stuff on there.
