I've been following various unity tutorial projects but most of them seem to just show you how to make a basic prototype without really teaching you how to finish a game. I want to find tutorials that take you through the entire process from start to finish, including things like UI, saving, menus, and polish. Has anyone found any complete game tutorial resources that actually result in a finished product you could put in a portfolio?

The Complete C# Unity Developer course on Udemy is exactly what you're looking for. It takes you through building several complete games from start to finish, including all the polish and finishing touches. Each project is substantial enough for a portfolio, and they cover everything from core gameplay to menus, saving systems, and even some basic monetization.

I've had good experience with Code Monkey's YouTube channel. He has several series where he builds complete games from scratch, and he's really thorough about explaining his process. What I like is that he doesn't just show the happy path - he shows debugging and problem solving when things don't work, which is super valuable for learning.

Unity's own Create with Code course is free and takes you through building a complete game. It's part of their Unity Learn platform and includes everything from basic movement to UI, audio, and publishing. The best part is that it's constantly updated to work with the latest Unity versions, unlike some older tutorials that break with engine updates.

Check out GameDev.tv's courses. They have several that focus on building complete games, and they're really good about teaching best practices rather than just getting something working. Their instructors are industry professionals who understand what makes a game feel polished and complete, not just functional.
