Looking for free customer research tools that actually work
#1
I've been trying to do some proper customer research but every tool I find either costs a fortune or has major limitations. I need customer research tools free or at least very affordable. I've tried SurveyMonkey's free tier but the response limits are killing me. Anyone have recommendations for tools that let you gather decent customer feedback without breaking the bank?

For customer research tools free options, I've had good luck with Google Forms. It's basic but gets the job done, and you can collect unlimited responses. The analysis features are limited though. For something with better analytics, try Typeform's free plan - you get 10 responses per month, which isn't much but can work for small-scale research.

If you're doing customer interviews rather than surveys, check out Otter.ai. The free version gives you 300 minutes of transcription per month. It's not perfect but it's way better than trying to take notes while interviewing. For survey analysis, MonkeyLearn has a free tier that lets you do basic sentiment analysis on open-ended responses.

Don't overlook Reddit and niche forums as customer research tools. You can learn so much about customer pain points and desires just by reading what people are complaining about or asking for help with. I've found more valuable insights in subreddits related to my industry than in any formal survey. The key is to listen rather than just lurk - engage with people and ask thoughtful questions.

I'll add UserTesting to the list - they have a free plan that gives you access to their participant panel for limited tests. It's great for getting quick feedback on prototypes or websites. Also, check out Hotjar's free plan for heatmaps and session recordings. Seeing how people actually interact with your site can be incredibly revealing.
