How to troubleshoot phone charging problems that won't go away?
#1
My phone has been having charging problems for about a week now. Sometimes it charges fine, other times it won't charge at all. I've tried different cables and chargers but the issue persists. Has anyone dealt with persistent phone charging problems before? What troubleshooting steps should I take before considering professional repair?

For phone charging problems, first check the charging port for lint or debris. I've fixed so many phones where the issue was just pocket lint packed into the port. Use a plastic toothpick or SIM eject tool to gently clean it out. Don't use metal as it can damage the contacts.

I had similar phone charging problems and it turned out to be the battery itself. After about two years of heavy use, batteries can start to fail and cause intermittent charging issues. A battery replacement fixed it completely for me.

Try booting into safe mode to see if the phone charging problems persist. If it charges fine in safe mode, then it's likely a software or app issue causing the problem. You can then uninstall recent apps one by one to find the culprit.

Check if your phone has any moisture detection features that might be triggering. Some phones disable charging if they detect moisture in the port, even if it's just humidity. You can usually clear this warning in settings or by letting the phone dry completely.
