How to start a reliable marketing attribution model with limited resources?
#1
As the new marketing manager for a mid-sized B2C e-commerce brand, I'm under pressure to prove the marketing ROI of our campaigns, but attributing sales to specific channels like social media or email is a nightmare with our current piecemeal analytics setup. We see overall revenue increases during campaigns, but I can't confidently say which tactics are driving profitable growth versus just adding vanity metrics, and this makes it impossible to optimize our budget allocation. For marketers who have successfully built a reliable attribution model, where did you start with limited resources? Did you find a specific analytics platform or methodology that provided actionable insights without requiring a full-time data scientist, and how did you get buy-in from leadership to invest in better tracking infrastructure when they just want to see immediate bottom-line results?
