How to build a teal-and-orange look in Resolve while preserving skin tones?
#1
I'm editing a short film shot in log and trying to achieve a specific, desaturated teal and orange look that feels cinematic but not overly stylized or artificial. I'm working in DaVinci Resolve and understand the basics of primary correction, but my attempts at using the color warper and qualifiers to isolate and shift hues feel clumsy and break down in complex shots. For colorists who work on narrative projects, what is your systematic approach for building a cohesive look across a scene, and how do you balance creative grading with maintaining natural skin tones and avoiding noise or banding in the shadows?
