From my experience, trust building for local businesses is the foundation, marketing is the amplifier.
You can have amazing marketing that brings people in once, but without customer relationship trust, they won't come back or refer others. On the flip side, you can have incredible trust but if no one knows you exist, you won't get the chance to build those relationships.
I'd say start with building genuine business connections with your initial customers, then use their testimonials and referrals as your most powerful marketing. Authentic customer engagement creates organic marketing through word of mouth.
I see this as a timing question. Early on, focus more on trust building for local businesses because you need those foundational genuine business connections.
