How have sports events evolved to include more entertainment elements recently?

I've noticed that sports events seem to be incorporating more entertainment elements beyond just the game itself. From halftime shows to interactive fan zones to celebrity appearances, it feels like the line between sports events and entertainment is blurring.

What are some of the most innovative ways you've seen sports events incorporate entertainment elements? I'm interested in both professional leagues and smaller/local events that are doing creative things.

Also, do you think this trend of sports events becoming more entertainment-focused is a good thing? Or does it distract from the actual sport? I'm curious about how other fans feel about these developments.

I've noticed sports events incorporating more interactive technology for fans. At some basketball games I've been to recently, there are apps that let you vote on music during timeouts or participate in trivia contests for prizes. These sports events are becoming more engaging for casual fans who might not be as invested in the game itself.

Some sports events are creating amazing pre-game and halftime experiences. I went to a baseball game that had a craft beer festival in the parking lot before the game, with local breweries and food trucks. During halftime at a football game I attended, there was a drone light show. These sports events are recognizing that for many people, the social and entertainment aspects are as important as the game.

I think the trend of sports events adding more entertainment is generally positive as long as it doesn't interfere with the actual competition. The key is balance - having interesting things to do before the game and during breaks enhances the experience, but constant distractions during play would be annoying. The best sports events I've been to recently have entertainment elements that complement rather than compete with the sport.
