How does sensory processing disorder show up in toddlers at home?

Our toddler has been having these really intense meltdowns lately that seem to go beyond typical tantrums, and our pediatrician mentioned it could be a sensory processing issue. I’m just trying to understand what that actually looks like day-to-day for other families, because sometimes it feels like we’re walking on eggshells trying to figure out what will set things off.
