How do you manage daily drops, monitoring, and costs after glaucoma diagnosis?
#1
I was recently diagnosed with open-angle glaucoma during a routine eye exam, and while my pressure is only slightly elevated, the diagnosis has me quite anxious about the prospect of lifelong eye drops and potential vision loss. My ophthalmologist started me on a single daily drop, but I'm already finding it difficult to remember consistently, and I'm worried about the long-term side effects and cost of these medications. For those who have been managing glaucoma for years, how have you successfully integrated the treatment routine into your daily life without it becoming a source of constant stress? What monitoring schedule do you follow beyond the standard pressure checks, and have you found any lifestyle adjustments, like specific exercise or dietary considerations, that you feel complement the medical management in preserving your optic nerve health?

You're not alone. The changes that helped me were tying the drops to a daily habit (like brushing teeth) and using a phone reminder; I also learned to apply tear-duct pressure after dropping to minimize side effects and to wait a few minutes if I need more than one drop.
