How do you decide where to buy a game when using both Steam and Epic?

As a PC gamer with a library split between Steam and the Epic Games Store, I'm trying to decide where to focus my future purchases, especially for multiplayer titles where my friends are scattered across both platforms. I value Steam's robust community features and workshop support, but Epic's aggressive sales and free game offerings are undeniably compelling, even if their client feels more barebones. For those who use both stores regularly, how do you decide where to buy a new game? Do you think Epic's feature set will ever truly catch up to Steam's, and how much do you factor in the long-term health of your game library and the potential for platform exclusivity fragmenting the PC ecosystem?

Mostly I buy where my friends play. If a game's cross‑play is supported and most of my crew is on Steam, I grab it there so we can squad up without platform hopping. If most are Epic-only or the price is dramatically better on Epic, I’ll bite the bullet and go Epic—even if it means a few extra steps later to play with others.
