How do I pick a used EV with CCS vs CHAdeMO for future charging compatibility?
#1
I’m finally taking the plunge and seriously considering an EV, likely a used Nissan Leaf or a Hyundai Kona Electric, to replace my old sedan. My main hang-up isn’t even the range anymore, but the whole public charging landscape. I keep seeing different plug types at stations, and I’m genuinely confused about the long-term practicality. I understand the basic CCS vs CHAdeMO difference, but it feels like choosing a phone charger all over again, where one standard might get left behind. I plan to use home charging most of the time, but for the occasional road trip to see family, I want to make sure the car I buy won’t be stranded at an incompatible fast charger in a few years. How do you even weigh this when looking at used models?
