How do I fix midgame bottlenecks in a city builder?
#1
I’ve been playing this new city-builder for a couple weeks now, and I’m totally stuck on the mid-game resource bottleneck. My production chains just can’t keep up with the upgrade requirements, and I’m not sure if I’ve built my layout wrong or if I’m missing a core strategy. Has anyone else hit this wall and figured out a good way through it?

That mid game bottleneck hits hard I felt the same thing where upgrades demand more and more and your output barely keeps up I kept chasing bigger upgrades and felt like I was running in circles

From a more analytical angle the flow of resources matters as much as total output If you have many tiny loops you may starve the big suppliers Try centralizing the chain and forcing a single strong corridor instead of scattering farms

I thought you meant mid game as a stage change not a numbers issue Could it be you care more about aesthetics than throughput and the game lets that slip

Maybe the cadence of upgrades is a design trap you chase a schedule not a system I am skeptical the layout fix alone will solve it sometimes the numbers push you forward anyway

What if the problem is not supply but demand Can you dial back upgrade requirements or set shorter goals and see if you still feel blocked This reframing often changes how you read the bottleneck

One simple tactic is to lock a single production module and build around it rather than expanding many small lines If you push a compact hub you buy time before the next tier
