How can retro games be enjoyed sustainably without more e-waste?

I've been collecting retro games for years, but lately I've started to feel guilty about the environmental impact of all these aging plastic cartridges and discs, not to mention the CRTs. It feels at odds with the hobby's preservation spirit. Does anyone else think about the e-waste aspect, and have you found more sustainable ways to enjoy these classics without contributing to the problem?

My move is simple you play most sessions via emulation or remasters and only keep physical discs for the games that truly deserve a shelf. Gives a different take. I am not gonna pretend that every classic is best kept digital but I choose the path that reduces waste. I sell or donate what I do not use and I pick up digital versions or careful emulation for daily play. If a disc or cart is truly beloved I guard it but I keep it out of daily rotation to spare the rest of the setup. Nostalgia can be kept alive without piling up more junk.
