How can I start low-pressure local meetups in a new city as a remote dev?
#1
I recently moved to a new city for work and, as a remote software developer, I'm finding it really difficult to meet people outside of my immediate colleagues. I've looked at generic local meetups on some big platforms, but they often seem either too broad or hyper-focused on niche hobbies that don't interest me. For others who have successfully built a social circle in a new place, how did you find or even start more specific, low-pressure meetups? I'm interested in casual gatherings for things like board games, hiking, or tech talks, but I'm unsure how to gauge interest or find a suitable venue that isn't a noisy bar, and I'm a bit introverted about taking the lead in organizing something myself.
