How can I remember to use sunscreen with my skincare routine?
#1
I finally got a simple skincare routine down, but I always forget to use sunscreen in the morning. Does anyone have a good trick for remembering, or a moisturizer with SPF you really like?

Set a daily reminder to apply sunscreen after moisturizer every morning.

I keep sunscreen right next to the cleanser and moisturizer on the bathroom counter so I see it every morning. If you prefer a moisturizer with SPF, aim for SPF 30 or higher and reapply if you are outdoors midday.

One simple way is to anchor sunscreen to something you already do. After you wash with your cleanser and put on your moisturizer, look in the mirror and say yep sunscreen goes here. If makeup is part of your routine, you can use a tinted moisturizer with SPF as a one two punch or layer a regular sunscreen under makeup. The key is to keep it lightweight and comfortable so you keep doing it. Set a timer for a quick reapplication if you are out in the sun longer than you expect. Even on cloudy days UV still sneaks through.

Totally get the forgetfulness thing and I am not here to pretend there is a magic trick that makes you remember every morning. A low drama system that works for me is a small kit with three items kept in the same order every day. Cleanser to wake up the skin, then moisturizer with SPF or a separate sunscreen, and then any makeup if I wear it. The skin looks and feels better when I actually use the sunscreen rather than just thinking about it, so I keep it easy and fast. If you have space, put the sunscreen somewhere you pass every morning, like near the coffee maker or by the door. You can also use a tinted moisturizer with SPF to save time. Reapplication is the hard part and if you are indoors most of the day you may not need it as often, but if you step outside for a walk or a commute you should reapply. For weekend hikes or outdoor activities, carry a small travel bottle and apply at least every two hours. If you want to track it, make a tiny routine log for a week and see if you hit the target consistently. It is not glamorous but it protects your skin and you will thank yourself later.
