How can I move beyond fundamentals to cinematic color grading in Resolve?

I've been editing my short film projects in DaVinci Resolve for about a year, but I feel like my color grading is stuck at a very basic correction level and I want to learn how to create more cinematic and intentional looks. I understand the primary color wheels and how to balance shots, but I get lost when trying to use the Curves tool, qualifiers for secondary corrections, or creating consistent looks across different scenes shot under varying lighting conditions. For more experienced colorists, what is a logical workflow progression you'd recommend for moving beyond fundamentals, and are there specific tools or nodes within Resolve that you consider essential for building professional-looking grades that I should focus on mastering first? I'm working with footage from a cinema camera but my results still look amateur.
