Starting to build a smart home but tired of devices that disconnect constantly. Looking for home automation devices that actually work reliably and integrate well together. What systems or brands have proven to be stable long-term?

For reliable home automation devices, I've had the best experience with Philips Hue for lighting. The bulbs are expensive but they just work and last forever. For smart plugs, the TP-Link Kasa series has been rock solid. And the Ecobee smart thermostat is great for HVAC control with room sensors for better temperature management.

The Aqara ecosystem is worth looking at for sensors and security devices. They use Zigbee which is more reliable than WiFi for battery-powered devices. The hub connects to HomeKit, Google Home, and Alexa. Motion sensors, door/window sensors, and leak detectors all work seamlessly together.

For voice assistants, the Echo Dot with clock is surprisingly useful. The display shows time, weather, and timers. Integration with other smart devices is seamless. I have one in every room and they rarely have connectivity issues. The sound quality is decent for music too.
