Gender equality local initiatives that actually make a difference?
#1
I'm looking to support or start gender equality local initiatives in my community, but I want to focus on things that actually create meaningful change rather than just awareness raising. We have plenty of awareness already - I want action.

What gender equality local initiatives have you seen work well? I'm particularly interested in practical programs that address specific issues like pay equity, childcare access, domestic violence support, or political representation at the local level.

I'm also wondering about how to make these initiatives inclusive and intersectional. Gender equality isn't just about women, and it affects people differently based on race, class, disability, etc. How do you design programs that acknowledge these complexities?

If you've been involved in successful local gender equality work, what made it successful? Was it partnerships with existing organizations? Community buy in? Specific funding strategies? And how do you measure whether you're actually making progress?

I'm ready to put in the work but want to learn from others' experiences first.
