Game engine tutorials comparison: Unity vs Unreal vs Godot vs others
#1
There are so many game engine tutorials available for different engines. Unity has tons of resources, Unreal has amazing graphics capabilities, Godot is free and open source, and there are other options too. For someone looking to learn game development, which engine has the best game engine tutorials and learning resources? I'm not just talking about official documentation but also community tutorials, YouTube channels, and courses. What's your experience with different game engine tutorials?

Unity wins for sheer volume of tutorials and learning resources. There are thousands of free and paid tutorials covering every imaginable topic. The community is massive, so when you have a problem, someone has probably already solved it and posted about it. Unity's asset store also has tons of learning resources and example projects.

Unreal has fantastic official learning resources through their Epic Dev community and learning portal. The quality of their official tutorials is very high, and they cover both Blueprints and C++. For beginners, the Blueprint tutorials are especially good because they teach programming logic visually before you have to learn syntax.

Godot's documentation is actually really good for beginners. It's written in clear language with lots of examples. The community is smaller but very helpful. What I like about Godot tutorials is that they often focus on fundamentals rather than engine-specific tricks, which gives you transferable skills.

Don't forget about GameMaker Studio 2 for absolute beginners. Its tutorial ecosystem is excellent, especially for people with zero programming experience. The drag-and-drop system lets you make games immediately, which is great for motivation. Once you understand game logic, you can transition to GML (GameMaker Language) which is similar to JavaScript.
