Free distortion and saturation plugins for adding character

Distortion and saturation can add warmth, harmonics, and character. What free distortion and saturation plugins do you use? I'm looking for everything from subtle tape saturation to aggressive distortion. Some free analog emulation plugins include saturation, but there are also dedicated distortion tools. What are your go-to free plugins for adding that extra something to your tracks?

For free distortion and saturation plugins, the Klanghelm IVGI is great for subtle saturation. The ChowDSP tape plugin adds nice harmonic distortion. These free analog emulation plugins can add warmth and character. I use them on drums, bass, and sometimes the mix bus. The free distortion and saturation plugins available are surprisingly musical.
