Emergency car repair tips for roadside situations
#1
What emergency car repair tips should every driver know? I'm talking about things that can get you home or to a shop when something goes wrong on the road. I always carry basic tools and know how to do temporary fixes for common issues. What are your must-know emergency car repair tips and what should be in every car's emergency kit?

Emergency car repair tips every driver should know: how to change a tire (practice at home first), how to jump start a car (connect positive to positive, negative to good car's negative, bad car's engine block), how to add coolant temporarily (use water if necessary), and how to use tire sealant for small punctures. Keep basic tools, jumper cables, and a flashlight in your car.

My emergency kit includes: duct tape (temporary hose repair), hose clamps, tire plug kit, portable air compressor, basic tool set, work gloves, and emergency blankets. Also, know how to check fuses - a blown fuse can cause all sorts of weird issues. Keep spare fuses in your glove box.

For overheating emergencies: turn on heater full blast (helps cool engine), pull over safely, let engine cool completely before removing radiator cap. Adding cold water to a hot engine can crack the block. Keep a gallon of distilled water in your trunk - useful for coolant system or battery emergencies.
