Educational workshops for adults
#1
I'm interested in continuing to learn new things as an adult. What educational workshops are available in our community? I'm looking for workshops on practical skills, hobbies, or personal development. Are there any educational workshops that you've found particularly valuable or well taught? What organizations offer the best adult learning opportunities?

The library's skill share" series is fantastic. They've had workshops on everything from basic home repairs to smartphone photography to personal finance. The instructors are community members sharing their expertise. Also the community college offers non credit continuing education classes on practical skills like cooking, gardening, or computer basics. Educational workshops that focus on immediately applicable skills tend to be most popular.

The senior center has educational workshops on topics relevant to older adults, like Medicare planning, avoiding scams, and healthy aging. They're taught by professionals who volunteer their time. Also the park district offers nature education workshops on things like bird identification or native plants. Educational workshops that are free or low cost and taught by knowledgeable instructors provide great value to the community.

The makerspace downtown has workshops on 3D printing, laser cutting, and other tech skills. They're hands on and you get to create something to take home. Also the art center has single session workshops on specific techniques like watercolor landscapes or pottery throwing. Educational workshops that give you a finished product or tangible skill by the end are especially satisfying and feel worth the time investment.
