Designing a Sustainable Hybrid Model to Bridge the Rural Digital Divide
#1
I work for a non-profit focused on rural education, and we're trying to design a sustainable program to address the digital divide in remote communities where broadband infrastructure is lacking and device ownership is low. Simply providing laptops or tablets feels insufficient without addressing connectivity, digital literacy, and ongoing technical support. For others implementing similar initiatives, what hybrid models combining offline-capable educational software, community Wi-Fi hotspots, and local peer training have you found most effective, and how do you measure long-term impact beyond just hardware distribution to ensure skills are actually retained and utilized?
