Deciding between augmenting SSRI or switching to SNRI for energy and anhedonia
#1
I've been managing depression with a standard SSRI for several years, and while it took the edge off, I still struggle with persistent low energy and anhedonia that affects my work and relationships. My psychiatrist has suggested either augmenting my current medication or trying a different class like an SNRI, but I'm wary of the adjustment period and potential side effects. For others who have been through similar medication transitions, what was your experience in finding a more effective regimen, and how did you weigh the benefits of potentially better symptom control against the very real risks of increased anxiety or other disruptive side effects during the switch?
