The console launch titles can make or break a new generation. Looking back, games like Halo for Xbox or Demon's Souls for PS5 really showed what the hardware could do. What console launch titles do you think we'll see that will properly showcase next generation gaming?
I'm hoping for more than just prettier versions of current games. We need console launch titles that actually use new features in meaningful ways.
The console launch titles need to showcase what makes each platform unique. For PS6, that might mean games that use new controller features or AI capabilities. For Xbox Series X2, it could be games deeply integrated with Game Pass or cloud features. Nintendo Switch 2 will need games that demonstrate the improved hardware while maintaining the hybrid experience.
I'm hoping for console launch titles that aren't just tech demos. The PS5 had Demon's Souls which was great, but it was a remake. I want to see new IP that couldn't exist on previous hardware. Games that use the SSD in creative ways or leverage AI for dynamic storytelling. That's what would truly define next generation gaming.
