Budget bike aerodynamics improvements for speed
#1
I'm interested in improving my bike's aerodynamics without spending much. What are some budget bike aerodynamics improvements that actually help with speed? I know proper position matters most, but are there specific inexpensive modifications or cheap cycling comfort upgrades that also improve aerodynamics? Things like removing unnecessary accessories, tape on cables, or other small changes that reduce drag without costing much.

For budget bike aerodynamics improvements, start with your position. Getting lower and narrower saves more watts than any equipment change. After that, consider removing unnecessary accessories like bags or cages when you're trying to go fast. Also, tighter clothing helps.

Tape down loose cables. Vibrating cables create drag. Use electrical tape or special cable management clips to secure them close to the frame. Also, consider a more aerodynamic helmet if you're using a bulky one. These are cheap cycling comfort upgrades that also help with aerodynamics.

Wheel covers can be made cheaply from coroplast or similar material. They reduce drag significantly, especially on the rear wheel. Also, consider a narrower handlebar if yours is very wide. These budget bike aerodynamics improvements cost little but can save watts.
