Assessing EV viability: older apartments, no dedicated charging, 100 ft to outlet, 5
#1
I'm considering purchasing my first electric vehicle, but I live in an older apartment complex without any dedicated EV charging infrastructure, and my assigned parking spot is about 100 feet from the nearest exterior outlet. I'm trying to realistically assess if EV ownership is feasible for me, given that my daily commute is around 50 miles round-trip. For urban EV owners without home charging, how have you managed relying primarily on public charging networks? I'm particularly interested in your experience with the reliability and cost of public Level 2 chargers in city settings, the practicality of using a standard 120V outlet for overnight trickle charging as a partial solution, and any apps or strategies you use to plan your charging around daily errands to minimize downtime.
