Are there any trucks that actually last forever with proper maintenance?

I see claims about trucks that last forever but I'm skeptical. What trucks have you personally seen or owned that have crossed 300k, 400k miles and are still going strong? I'm talking daily drivers, not garage queens. What specific models and years seem to have that legendary durability? And what maintenance is actually required to get them to that mileage?

The Toyota Tundra with the 4.7L V8 is legendary. I know multiple contractors who have them with 400k+ miles and they're still work trucks. The key is the maintenance though. These trucks that last forever need regular fluid changes, timing belts replaced on schedule, and basic care. Neglect any vehicle and it won't make it to high mileage.

I work in construction and see trucks that last forever every day. The Ford 7.3L Power Stroke diesel trucks from the late 90s/early 2000s are still everywhere on job sites. They're not pretty and they're slow but they just keep running. The Chevy/GMC trucks with the 6.0L and 6.6L Duramax are also incredibly durable if maintained properly.

The older the truck, the simpler it is, and generally the longer it lasts. Modern trucks have so much electronics and emissions equipment that can fail. Trucks that last forever tend to be pre-2007 diesels or gas trucks without all the modern complexity. My 1999 F-250 with the 7.3L has 320k miles and starts every time.

From a data perspective, trucks that last forever also tend to be the ones with best resale value. It's a self-reinforcing cycle. People see high-mileage examples still working, so they're willing to pay more for used ones, which supports the resale value, which makes people more likely to maintain them properly. Toyota trucks are the perfect example of this phenomenon.
