AMD vs Intel: which benchmarks predict sustained 4K editing and rendering
#1
I'm building a new workstation for 4K video editing and 3D rendering, and I'm stuck trying to make a final CPU choice between the latest high-core-count offerings from AMD and Intel, as the sheer volume of CPU benchmark comparison data from different reviewers using different test suites is overwhelming and sometimes contradictory. I care most about sustained multi-threaded performance under heavy load for applications like DaVinci Resolve and Blender, but I also need decent single-threaded speed for certain real-time tasks, and I'm unsure how much weight to give to synthetic benchmarks versus real-world application tests. For professionals who have recently built similar systems, which specific benchmarks proved most predictive of your actual workflow performance, and did you encounter any unexpected bottlenecks or compatibility issues with either platform that weren't apparent from the review numbers?
