I recently bought a 2023 Ford Maverick hybrid, and while the advertised EPA estimate is around 40 MPG combined, my real-world fuel economy over the first two months of mixed commuting has been consistently between 33 and 35 MPG, which is a significant drop. I drive relatively conservatively, use the eco mode, and my commute is about 60% highway at speeds around 70 MPH, so I'm trying to figure out if this discrepancy is normal for real-world conditions or if there might be an issue. For other hybrid or turbo owners, how close do your actual numbers come to the window sticker, and what driving habits or conditions had the biggest impact on bridging that gap? Is the highway speed the likely culprit, or should I be looking at things like tire pressure, using the air conditioning, or a potential break-in period for the engine?
