My PlayStation 5 just prompted me to install a major new firmware update, and I'm always hesitant to do these immediately after hearing past stories about updates causing rest mode issues, fan noise changes, or even bricking consoles in rare cases. I rely on my console for daily gaming and media, so I can't afford an extended downtime if something goes wrong. For other PS5 owners, what is your typical protocol when a new system update drops? Do you wait a few days to see if widespread problems are reported on forums, or do you backup your saves and update right away? Have you ever experienced a firmware update that negatively impacted your console's performance or stability, and if so, were you able to roll it back or did you have to wait for a subsequent patch to fix the issues?
