I just saw the new sci-fi epic that's been getting a lot of buzz, and while the visual effects were undeniably stunning, I left the theater feeling completely disconnected from the characters and confused by a plot that seemed more interested in setting up a franchise than telling a coherent story. The movie reviews I read beforehand were overwhelmingly positive, praising its ambition, but none of them prepared me for the glacial pacing and emotional emptiness at its core. I'm curious if others who've seen it had a similar reaction, or if I'm missing something that resonated with other viewers. What did you think about the balance between spectacle and substance, and did the ending's obvious sequel bait undermine the narrative weight for you as well?
