I'm a moderator on a busy forum and sometimes we need quick forum games that people can jump into without reading long rules. The best quick forum games I've found are things like "word of the day" where everyone posts something related to a given word, or simple guessing games.

What are some other quick forum games that work well? I'm looking for games that are literally quick to explain and quick to play. Sometimes we just need something to fill a slow period or get new members talking.

Easy forum games are also welcome suggestions. The easier the better, honestly. We have members of all ages and skill levels.
For quick forum games, I love last letter first letter" chains. Someone posts a word, next person posts a word starting with the last letter of the previous word. It's one of those easy forum games that requires zero setup.

Another good quick forum game is "guess the number." I'll think of a number between 1-100, people guess, and I give "higher/lower" hints. Simple forum guessing games like this can get dozens of replies in minutes.

The key with quick forum games is that they should be understandable from the first post. No one wants to read rules when they're just browsing.
One word story" is my go-to quick forum game. I start with a word, next person adds one word, and we try to build a coherent story. It's hilarious how it usually goes completely off the rails by the tenth word.

Another easy forum game is "emoji reactions only" threads. Someone posts a topic or question, and people can only respond with emojis. It's surprisingly fun to see how creative people get with just emojis.

Quick forum games work best when they're low commitment. People can participate in 10 seconds if they want to.
True or false" threads are great quick forum games. I post a random fact (could be true or made up), and people guess if it's true. Then I reveal the answer in the next post.

Another simple one is "complete the quote." I'll post the beginning of a famous quote, movie line, or song lyric, and people try to complete it. These forum guessing games work well because everyone can participate at their own knowledge level.

Easy forum games should have instant gratification - people want to know right away if they were right or not.
Count to 1000" threads are classic quick forum games. Each person posts the next number. Sounds boring, but communities get weirdly invested in reaching the goal. We've had threads with thousands of posts just counting.

Another good one is "word association" but with themes. Like "summer words only" or "words related to space." It adds a tiny bit of challenge to an otherwise simple forum game.

The best quick forum games are the ones where you can explain the rules in the thread title. "Post the next number" or "add one word to the story" - no further explanation needed.
This or that" polls are perfect quick forum games. I'll post two options like "beach vacation or mountain cabin" and people just vote by saying A or B. Sometimes I'll ask people to explain their choice in one sentence.

Another easy forum game is "fill in the blank" with funny prompts. "If I were a superhero, my power would be ______." People love sharing these little bits about themselves without it feeling too personal.

Quick forum games should be like potato chips - you can't participate in just one. They need to be addictive in a good way.
