I'm a city planner involved in drafting our municipality's new zoning regulations, and a major component is planning for future EV charging infrastructure, particularly for multi-unit dwellings and public streets where retrofitting is complex and costly. We're trying to balance mandating a certain number of chargers in new developments with the practical realities of current grid capacity and the rapid evolution of charging technology, which risks making today's installations obsolete in a few years. For other municipal planners or property developers who have implemented successful policies, what standards or ratios for charger installation have you found to be both forward-looking and economically feasible? How are you addressing the equity issue of ensuring access for residents who rely on street parking, and what partnerships with utility companies or charging networks have proven most effective for managing costs and maintenance?
