I've been swing trading equities for about a year with a fundamental focus, but I want to incorporate technical analysis to better time my entries and exits, especially in this volatile market. I understand basic support and resistance, but I'm overwhelmed by the sheer number of indicators—moving averages, RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands—and I don't know which combinations are actually useful versus just creating noise. For traders who successfully use TA, how did you develop a disciplined, rules-based system instead of just cherry-picking indicators that fit a narrative? What resources helped you learn to read price action and volume authentically, and how do you avoid the common pitfall of curve-fitting your strategy to past data?
