After a recent near-miss with a driver who ran a red light and then falsely claimed I was speeding, I've decided it's finally time to invest in a dash cam for my daily commute, but I'm overwhelmed by the options and conflicting reviews. I need a reliable front and rear camera system that can handle extreme summer heat in my car, record clear license plates at night, and ideally have parking mode to monitor incidents while I'm at work, but I don't want a complicated hardwired installation that might drain my battery. For daily drivers who rely on their dash cam, what models have you found to be truly durable and set-and-forget? How did you handle the power and wiring setup, and what specific features, like GPS logging or Wi-Fi connectivity, have you actually found useful versus just being gimmicky?
