I'm a librarian in a rural community, and the digital divide has become the central issue in my work, as many patrons lack reliable home internet access needed for everything from job applications to telehealth appointments. We have a handful of public computers and offer basic digital literacy workshops, but the demand far exceeds our resources, and the affordability of broadband remains a huge barrier. For other public servants, educators, or community organizers working in underserved areas, what practical solutions have you implemented to bridge this gap? Have you had success with partnerships to create community Wi-Fi hotspots, or programs that provide refurbished devices, and how do you secure sustainable funding for these initiatives beyond one-time grants?
