I've been working digitally in Photoshop for a few years, mostly doing character illustrations, but I feel like my work lacks the organic texture and depth of traditional painting. I want to improve my digital painting techniques to achieve a more painterly, less "airbrushed" look, particularly for environments and skin tones. For other digital artists, what are your go-to brushes and layer blending methods for creating realistic textures like canvas grain, oil paint strokes, or watercolor bleeds? How do you approach building up color and value in a way that mimics traditional media, and are there any specific tutorials or artists you'd recommend studying for this style?
