I'm finalizing the parts list for a new workstation build focused on 3D rendering and simulation, and I'm trying to decide between the latest high-core-count CPUs from AMD and Intel. I've been poring over various CPU benchmarks, but the results seem to vary wildly depending on the specific software and workload tested. For professionals in similar fields, which benchmarking suites or real-world application tests have you found most representative of actual performance in tools like Blender, ANSYS, or Unreal Engine? How much of a priority should I place on single-threaded speed versus total core count, and are there any platform considerations like PCIe lane availability or memory bandwidth that become bottlenecks before raw CPU performance does?
