I'm starting a personal project to create a low-poly 3D environment with a stylized, retro video game aesthetic, but I'm new to modeling in Blender. I understand the basic concept of using fewer polygons, but my models either end up looking too blocky and simplistic or I accidentally add too much detail and lose the clean, minimalist look I'm going for. For artists experienced in low-poly modeling techniques, what's your workflow for planning and executing a model with an efficient polygon budget? How do you decide where to place your edges to suggest detail without actually modeling it, and what are your strategies for creating interesting shapes and silhouettes while strictly limiting triangle count?
