I've been wanting to join a local book club for ages to get back into reading regularly and meet new people, but I'm having trouble finding one that fits. The ones I've seen advertised at the library seem to skew much older, and the few I found on social media are very genre-specific or have a waitlist. For avid readers in the community, how did you find your current book club? Are there any independent bookstores or cafes around town that host regular meetings for a more general audience, and what's the typical commitment like in terms of reading pace and discussion style? I'm hoping for something social but still focused on actually talking about the book.
