I run a small freelance graphic design business, and after a year of undercharging just to get clients, I'm finally overhauling my pricing strategy to reflect my experience and value, but I'm terrified of losing my current clients with a significant rate increase. I'm considering a tiered service model versus a flat project rate, but I'm unsure how to communicate the change effectively. For other freelancers or small agency owners who have successfully navigated this transition, how did you structure and justify your new pricing? What was the best way to announce the increase to existing clients, and how did you handle the inevitable pushback or client attrition without panicking and reverting to your old, unsustainable rates?
