Full Version: Should we update guidelines to curb dismissive responses to newcomers?

I've noticed a recent increase in dismissive and unhelpful comments in our forum threads, particularly when new members ask beginner questions, and I think it's starting to harm the overall welcoming atmosphere we've always had. While we have general community guidelines about respect, they don't seem specific enough to address this subtle but persistent negativity. I'm not a moderator, just a long-time member who cares about the community's health. Has the moderation team considered updating or clarifying the guidelines to explicitly encourage constructive feedback over blunt criticism? Perhaps we could add a section on mentoring or a "be helpful" principle that goes beyond just "be nice." I'm curious how other members feel about the current tone and if you've noticed this shift too.
