I drive a 2018 Honda Civic and I think it's time for new brake pads, as I'm starting to hear a slight grinding noise when I brake. I called my local dealership for a quote and they said the brake pad replacement cost would be around $450 for just the front pads, which seems incredibly high to me. I'm fairly handy and have done basic maintenance before, so I'm considering doing it myself. I've watched a few tutorials and it seems straightforward, but I'm nervous about getting the calipers right. For those of you who have done this on a similar car, is the dealership price typical, and how difficult is a DIY brake job for a beginner? I'd also appreciate any brand recommendations for pads if I go the DIY route.
